Hula-Hoop Tower

Hula-Hoop Tower is the most enjoyable working for me in Canterbury campus.

Our group made triangle with the circle.  We actually didn’t have a detailed plan to make a tower. We made a tower by the moment: looking their balance.

Making a tower it has more than two meters high is so difficult, but also there are lots of fun.

First difficulty was that we need to think about where we should put the triangle-hoop.  We had to build the tower higher than 2 meters long. So the members ought to think about how to make tower high and not to fall down.

In short, there are so many things to think about, so we were busy to build it.

Group working is not only fun but also difficult. There are many different ideas in group, and we are totally different, so doing same thing with different people will be hard. However, I like group working, because I will be able to make thing that I would not be able to make by myself. And also I can know different ideas from team members.

Finally, our tower had interesting shape. I think it is very creative because it doesn’t have rules; just depends on balance.

Our tower reminded me off the Faceture Bud Vase which is in the shop in Design Museum.

Faceture Vase  By Phil Cuttance

I thought the vase is interesting. The reason why I thought so is that was not straight shape. You might think ‘vase’ as straight, cylindric, and so on.

Our tower is unplanned, unusual form. It’s not the shape that generally thinking of tower.

Doing unusual, new thing is not going easy, it has a lot of difficulty but it will be creative, eye-catching thing.

Atomic Kiss

The most favourite artwork through London is Atomic Kiss by Joan Rabascall.

As you can see, the Mushroom Cloud metaphor the atomic bomb. I was shocked by this picture. Because the atomic bomb has shocking, historical meaning for world, especially for Japanese.

The bottom of this picture, there are red lip. The red lip is emphasized by their luge. Because there are any other strong colour than lip.

I don’t know what Joan wants to say, but this picture is eye-catching.

Speaking about the manifesto of illustration, it should be eye-catching, political, valuable, and has a message. Atomic Kiss meets requirements of illustration.

Also, the poster that I draw with Nina, has lip. We wanted to show that the illustration is trying to talk to you on the wall. I think the Atomic Kiss has similar meaning.

This work is very shocking, and makes me sad, but I like it. Because this shows one of the issue that people have to think.

5 features of successful

Hi, this blog will talk about 5 features of successful blogs.

I think these following things is important to write a blog.

1: interesting title
2: easy to read/ not so many words
3: back ground
4: be interactive
5: using images

Obviously, 1 is important. Because it is for attracting people.

And the reason why 2 is important is that long sentence might be boring and tiring to read. Actually,  I don't want reading whole sentences like Terms and Conditions :p

3 is also important because the back ground is the first thing we will see in the web page. Of course simple is good, but I recommend you to use your favorite back ground. It shows our originality.

Definitely, 4 is necessity of writing a blog. Anytime, interactive is important. I learnt it from 5 weeks pre-sessional course. I think 'interactive' makes audiences/ reader enjoy your work much more than 'just' work.

Last one but not least is using images or videos. Because it makes your blog or your experiences easier to understand.

I did't write previous blogs above-mentioned, so I will try to do blog entry follow these points.

Thank you.
